Soror Constance R. Pizarro, a Silver Star and Life Member, has served Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated with distinction ever since her initiation at Kappa Phi Chapter at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York.
Since 1995, Connie has been a member of Nu Xi Omega Chapter, which serves Middlesex and Somerset counties in New Jersey. During her four-year term as President, Nu Xi Omega Chapter more than doubled its membership, scholarship awards and programs of service to the community. Nu Xi Omega also received several regional awards including Chapter of the Year, Basileus of the Year, the Ruth C. Easley Reactivation Award, and the North Atlantic Region Program Collaboration Award.
Connie has served as President, First Vice President, Secretary, Parliamentarian, Graduate Advisor and chaired various committees. In addition, she created the chapter’s non-profit organization, P.E.A.R.L.S., Inc., and served as the first President and Incorporator. She is a past recipient of the chapter’s Soror of the Year Award. Connie has also been a General Member and member of Omicron Xi Omega Chapter.
Connie built on her knowledge of local chapter issues by serving as Cluster IV Co-Coordinator for three years. She has presented several workshops on chapter operations, membership, communication styles and creating a non-profit organization.
Connie was appointed to a four-year term on the International Membership Committee in 2006. She presented workshops at Leadership Seminars, Boule, and regional conferences, including North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Far Western, International, Great Lakes and Central, during her appointment.
In 2010, she was elected as the North Atlantic Regional Director where she oversees 133 graduate and undergraduate chapters.
Connie has been recognized for her outstanding community service and professional accomplishments. She was awarded the 2009 Best in Class Award by BNY Mellon, the Ida B. Wells Community Service Award by the Metuchen branch of the NAACP, and the Black Achievers in Industry Award presented by the Harlem YMCA. Her civic and community affiliations include North Stelton AME Church, the National Association of Parliamentarians, Women in Leadership (Hofstra University), and Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City.
A New York City native, she currently resides in Somerset, New Jersey with her husband of 25 years, Edward. They have two daughters, Candice and Crystal, who is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha. She is Managing Director at BNY Mellon and has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Hofstra University.
